Strong Women

I spent Mother’s Day today making cards with my kids! It was really such a nice way to pass the day, teaching them to die cut with my Big Shot, stamping and adding embossing powders to heat emboss their sentiments! They learnt so quickly and really amazed me, especially with their stamping. I remember I ruined 4 cards before I could stamp properly and they got it right on their first stamp! My daughter enjoyed it so much she went on to make 2 more cards! Here are the cards they made. They chose everything without any help from me! Funny enough they both chose the same sentiment from Simon says stamps “Thanks Mom I turned out awesome”! I just love what they made!

As for me, I spent a long time figuring out how to make my card. I wanted to combine My Favourite Things Sketch challenge, with {Pin}Spirational’s  Women challenge, The Card Concept’s Spring flowers Clean and Graphic challenge AND Simon Says Stamps Wed Stencil challenge! So I ended up making this.

I masked a square on the card and stamped in flowers from The Ton and Stampers Anonynymous and coloured them in with my water pen and SU’s Blackberry Bliss. I then added the sentiment from Stamplorations Big Grin’s, Strong Women collection. I just love all the sentiments from that set. I stencilled in on the left with a Dutch Doobadoo stencil, which I repeated a few times to get the length of the card, and SU’s Blackberry Bliss ink and Old Olive. I cut the vellum flag from MFT Blueprint 20 and stamped the sentiment from The Ton Basic sentiment stamps set on it.

I think it is my best colouring so far and although I know I still have a lot to learn in shading, I’m still quite proud of the progress I’ve made!

Hope you liked it too!

The MFT sketch I tried to follow MFT but I added the right stripe on the left instead.

The picture from {pin}spirational pinspirational. I was inspired by the flowers. I actually thought we had to follow the layout and for a long time I was picturing the card I was going to make, but I didn’t see anyone follow the layout and my sentiment was far too small to add it in the middle on its own, so…

The Card Concept’s beautiful lilas. I used the purple colour from the imagethe card concept
