After going through a week without much inspiration to create cards with, which was very frustrating because I had all this free time when the kids were away in school, it hit me as soon as Friday came around! So I spent all weekend churning out cards (7 in total)! Dare I say I am an artist now, with an artist temperament?! Luckily I have very understanding kids and hubby!
I had just received my Tim Holtz distress paints from Ranger and was dying to use it every way I could! For this card I first spread the paints Broken China, Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade and Mowed lawn on a plastic folder, went over it with a sponge roller and gently coloured my Darice embossing folder with it. I cut it with Simon Says Stamp pierced rectangle, fixed it on the card stock with foam adhesive to raise it and stamped the sentiment from Stampendous before heat embossing it.

This next one was created especially for a friend’s birthday. I love this sentiment from Riley and Company’s Funny Bones, and I hope she’ll like it too! I used ARTplorations Bubble Dance stencil and sponged in with Stampin Up’s inks. I then added these metallic stripes I’ve had for ages so I don’t know where they’re from, sorry, stamped the wine glass from Different Colors, painted it in with my Tombow marker and fussy cut it. The sentiment on the vellum comes from Stampendous, which I had cut using MFT Blueprint 20 set.
If you think the card looks a little blurry at the bottom you might have had too much to drink! lol! (I have to check my camera’s settings)

This card was not what I had in mind in the beginning but it just took shape along the way! I was very much influenced by the challenges at Inkspirational which had Mint & Navy as its prime colours and Time Outs’s CASE the Designer sketch. I first inked up my Hero Arts Cling’s “poppy background” stamp with Momento’s dew drop inks. I spritzed it with water and stamped it on a white card stock. I cut it with Sizzix’s scallop die and used foam adhesive to raise it on the card. The blue leaves at the bottom was made by embossing a blue card stock with Memory Box embossing folder and fussy cutting the petals out, which I adhered underneath the poppys. The sentiment comes from The Ton and the flag was using MFT Blueprint 20 set.
I have more cards to showcase, but I have guests coming in 1h so I gotta go! Hope you enjoyed them!

Three fantastic cards Gwendolyn. Each one is uniquely creative and it looks like you had fun experimenting with new products and techniques. Inspiration comes on it’s own schedule, so sometimes life has to wait while you create. 🙂 Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up!

Wow, you really were a machine making all those cards over the weekend, well done!! I find that when I have free time I don’t have any ideas either but as soon as one develops the kids are home from school. Why does that happen?? Absolutely love your card for our challenge, the blues and mint are gorgeous and love how you were inspired by Kay’s card too. So very glad you joined us at TIME OUT this week!!
