Bling bling

I’m finally able to blog today. I have missed it. I thought about it all through December, while I was frantically preparing orders I received for my shadow box cards, once I told people I had opened my Etsy store. I didn’t expect so many orders, but I was obviously very pleased and excited. My cards are now sitting in someone’s house in Canada, USA, India, Italy and Germany! I thought about blogging all this week while I was preparing my new shadow box card designs (sometimes till 4h!) for Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day. I don’t know how the other bloggers do it, making cards daily, blogging, filming, posting…and holding a full time job for some!! As it is, I’m lucky my hubby is on holiday this week and he took over the cooking and the kids!

I made this card after I went through all the amazing creations of the fabulous designers during Altenew’s “A year in review” blog hop. Everyone had such gorgeous cards but I was especially inspired by Natalia’s cards. Her shaker cards and spinner cards are just stunning! Do checkout her blog if you don’t already know her. I was also inspired by the colour of the flowers in the inspiration board over at The Card Concept.

The Altenew flowers and leaves were coloured using the shaving foam technique, then stamped over using one of the layers in their Peony Bouquet stamp set. The leaves were left unstamped, just cut with the coordinating die cuts in the  set.

I really love how the colours turned out! With just one plate of shaving foam, I made quite a few sheets and I used the dies to cut them all so I now have them handy to make other cards for Valentine’s Day!

Aren’t they beautiful?  I tried to use up every inch of each sheet!

The shaker heart was made using foam adhesive and the only ones I had were these! LoL. Was a pain to get them all down but I am expecting proper foam tape next week!

This is the first shaker card I’ve made using foam tape and I hope it adheres better than the other shaker cards I’ve made where the glitter just fell out after a few days!

The beautiful sentiment comes from Technique Junkies. The glitter paper is a thin self adhesive paper I just received over Christmas. I’m normally not a “bling bling” type of card maker but my daughter, who’s a self proclaimed “dark person” loved it, so it can’t be that bad!

I hope to make more of the same this week so come back soon!

Oh Oh I just found out that I’m the lucky winner to receive a card from Natalia Zubkova and its the one that I was CASEing! I’m so pleased!

My first challenges of the year will be over at:

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge – New Something. The glitter paper is new and also the type of card is new for me

The Card Concept – Pretty things. I’m not sure what my style is. There wasn’t a “bling” category! LoL

In the Pink – Anything Goes

Mod Squad – Anything but Christmas

Chocolate Baroque – Colour challenge. I don’t have any of their stamps but hopefully I will soon! 😉  cholate-baroque

Thanks so much for playing Simon Says Stamp Wednesday “New Something” Challenge! Beautiful colors and design. Well done, Gwendolyn!! Alles Gute!
