I have this pile of gatefold cards I bought a year ago at a craft fair, with a fantastic idea of what to do with them, but obviously once I got home, I couldn’t remember why I bought them! To make matters worse, they are shiny card stock, so not possible to do any blending or shading on them… Then I saw CAS-ual Friday’s Off the Edge card challenge and a flash went off in my head ⚡️ , Eureka! (I love that series btw). I was going to use the gatefold cards and have nice Springy flowers going off the edges! The only die I had from CASual Friday though, was a small flower die from the Funky Square set, but I managed to make 6 cards out of that one tiny die!
I smooshed an A4 watercolour paper with different distress inks and used my Big Shot Plus to cut out as many little flowers as I could. I then assembled them on the card with Uhu glue stick and stamped different sentiments on them with Versafine black ink. The above card has a sentiment from Hero Arts.
This sentiment comes from Create A Smile. (Its Mothers Day in the UK in a week!)
This one from Winnie & Walter.
And this one from CASual Friday. I then went a little crazy so please forgive the cards that come next! I loved the negative die cut from this card and I used it to make the card below.
I really love it…even after my daughter asked me why I put a puddle on my card! Lol! This sentiment comes from Stamplorations. There was still part of the negative die cut left so I used it as a stencil.
To make this card.
I added a little blue in the flowers with my Zig clean color real brush and stamped the sentiment from Stamplorations with a mix of Wow’s embossing powder and sparkle. So thats how you can make 6 cards out of one tiny little die! And see that negative die cut on the left above, I intend to make a mixed media card out of it too! Waste not want not…although this only applies to when I craft unfortunately, LoL!
So which one do YOU like best?

WOW! Great job Gwendolyn. Such clever designs using that one little die! And a great way to use your gate fold card bases too. So clever to use the negative to create a card and use as a stencil. Always good when we can stretch the use of our dies! Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Watercolour!!

These are great! You’ve really bolstered your stash! Oh, I’m so glad you used the negative spaces, too, then also used the stencil! That is efficiency! Thanks for sharing at SOS this week… hard to pick a fave, but I like the light green shown at top and again below.
