Easy watercolour flowers

My daughter and I have started an online beginner’s water colouring course with Yao Cheng on Creativebug. I really love Yao Cheng’s loose abstract way of painting botanicals, creating with emotions instead of trying to control every stroke, what I really needed to learn and now I’m helping my daughter adapt to that too!  Today we learnt about how colours just flow into each other and how to paint leaves. Here’s a pic of us having fun with it!

This beginner course encouraged me to make a very simple watercolour card using my new stamps from The Ton called Wishful Flowers, which I heat embossed with Wow’s white embossing powder. There were no thoughts on perspective or dimension or anything else. I just dabbed the ink into the middle of the flower and really enjoyed watching it just flow into the water I had first laid down on each petal.

I made a video showing you how I created this simple but beautiful card, and you can find it at the end of this post. I love the sentiment from The Project Bin, which I think go really well with the stamps from The Ton, don’t you? I stamped it with Altenew’s Dark chocolate ink.

I used watercolour paints from Winsor and Newton on 200g Clairefontaine multi technique paper. The scallop panel was cut with the scallop die from MFT Blueprints 20 set and then adhered onto a baby blue card base using my double sided foam tape.

I hope you enjoyed the video and don’t forget to give me a thumbs up and subscribe to my new Youtube channel if you haven’t done so already.  This would make me really happy!

Thanks for dropping by and let me know what you thought of my card!
