The Sisterhood of Crafters – Anything Goes Challenge!

Hi all ! Its a new challenge over at The Sisterhood of Crafters blog and this fortnight, the theme is “Anything Goes”! Were you one of the winners of our last challenge, check it out here.

For this Anything Goes challenge, I decided to play with my alcohol inks when inspiration hit me at 1am one early morning! I did not really have this in mind when I made it, I just went with my feelings… and a Q-tip!

Yes those anemone looking things in the middle of the flower were created by sliding a Q-tip through the inks. The sentiment is from Altenew and it was stamped with Stazon jet black ink, as I was using Yupo paper and Stazon is the only ink I trust which will not wipe off a glossy surface.

I was really disappointed my phone’s battery was dead when I made this, so I couldn’t take a video of the making of this card. As I created the flower so randomly, I wasn’t sure I would be able to re-create it again, but I really wanted to show you the process. So I tried again and I was really happy to be able to create a similar looking flower in my video at the end of my post.

This is the second flower painting I created using the same method as the first. I used Tim Holtz’s Wild Plum, Teak Wood, Citrus alcohol inks & Alcohol blending solution.  Which flower do you prefer?

So I hope you like my first alcohol ink flower creations.  I personally really like it so I don’t think it’ll be my last! I would love to hear your comments about my card as they are always so appreciated.

Hop along to my fellow team mates at The Sisterhood of Crafters and leave them some love too and I hope to see your creations in our “Anything Goes” challenge.

Thanks for stopping by!

    1. THATS’s what it is!! Thanks! I was actually wondering what flower I painted as I didn’t really have any particular one in mind! 😄

  3. Wonderful vibrant colours! And great to have your video to see how you did it. You asked if using a Q-tip counts as sponging for CAS Mix Up – I’d have to say “no” as it is the equivalent of using a paintbrush IMHO. But I’m still so glad you linked up your card at CAS Mix Up as otherwise I wouldn’t have seen your gorgeous cards or your video – I want to try your technique! Thank you!

    1. Haha I thought so, I could have diecut it so that it would fulfill the challenge rules but I couldn’t bear to cut off any part of it. I’m so glad you liked it though.

  4. Both your Alcohol Ink flowers are gorgeous, Gwendolyn. I do not have a favorite and I am so impressed you came so close to your flower in your 1st card on your 2nd card. TFS and joining us again on CAS Mix Up. I will be saving your video to watch a little later. Hugs..
