Creative with Stamps – Heart

Hi all! I’m here today to share this month’s challenge theme at Creative with Stamps and its “Heart”, as its the month of St Valentine’s! We have a wonderful new sponsor for our challenges and they are MHK Designs digital stamps. Do go over and see all the wonderful images they have as they specialise in vintage design with modern sentiments. We are also having a Design Team call, so do go over to see all the details!

I used one of their beautiful designs called Perfect Poppies on a water-coloured background to make my one layer card. I also water-coloured the poppies with my Winsor and Newton watercolours. I added some white paint splatters and black nuovo drops, lined the top and bottom with my black Tombow and the card was done… and then remembered that the theme was heart and I didn’t have a single heart on my card! So I changed my nuvo “drops” to hearts. Whew! The card was saved!

As its the month of Valentine’s, I thought I’d share a history of St Valentine’s. Its thought that during the Roman times, men would sacrifice a goat and dog, and women would line up to be whipped by the skins of these animals as they thought it would make them more fertile! In my mid-month reminder post on the 14th of February, I’ll let you know why St. Valentine’s day was named as it is, so be sure to come back to find out!

Well I hope you’ll pop over to the Creative With Stamps challenge blog to see the other wonderful cards my team mates created just for your viewing pleasure! Thanks for stopping by and your comments are always so appreciated.

  1. This is so pretty! I had to laugh that someone beside me gets so caught up in the process they lose sight of the theme. You got those hearts on there, though!

  2. Hi Gwendolyn, what a stunning card! The background watercolouring is beautiful and perfect for the lovely flowers. Great watercolouring there, too. I would never have guessed that your Nuvo drops were not originally hearts—good save. Thanks so much for joining our HLS February Watercolour Challenge.
