Getting my Mojo back

After 2 months of just dealing with only our house move, you would think that I couldn’t wait to get back to crafting. And although I missed it terribly, I just couldn’t seem to get down and start creating again. All the cards posted during the month of January were done before Christmas, so in reality I had only made 1 card in January!! What happened to my creative mojo? Well, for one, as my craft room was the last to be unpacked, I still had 10 boxes piled up in it, so getting to my craft table alone was like gong through an obstacle course, and I cannot craft in a mess!

And appetite comes with eating, as we/they say in French and the opposite applies too. The less I did, the less I felt like doing. Luckily or unluckily, you decide later, we might take on a student boarder and if she stays, she will have my craft room and I will haul all my stuff up to our spare bedroom. Why would I do such a crazy thing, to give up my large bright craft room and move all my stuff again??? Well I want a cleaning lady and with what the boarder will be paying, I can get one guilt free! ;))) So I had to clean up all the boxes in my craft room, as she was coming to stay for afew days to try out the school…and I wasn’t about to put a beautiful Italian 16 yr old in our spare room beside our bedroom, even if I trust my hubby 100% I’m not stupid!

So once the craft room was clean, I felt like crafting again and decided just to sit down one day and start making a  card and this popped out! I was heavily influenced and inspired by TaeEun’s DT card for the February challenge and Effie’s use of feathers on her gorgeous cards!

To make the card, I first diecut a heart mask using Xcut’s layered hearts and then laid this mask over my card, taping it down with washi tapes. I used afew flowers & leaves from The Ton’s Fresh Cut Anemones set and stamped in the outline with Distress inks. I took my Spectrum Noir sparkly markers and coloured in the flowers, and used my Zig clean color real brush to colour in the rest.

I stamped in the German sentiment, which means “Thanks Alot, as this card is for a new neighbour who gave us a pot of flowers to welcome us to the neighbourhood, with Versafine black ink, but I should have cleaned the stamp first as its full of fibers from the wet wipes I used to wipe it and it transferred to my card… Once it was dry I stamped in the hummingbird from Stamplorations and covered it with feathers. To finish I added Nuvo drops, but as I’m new to them I still  haven’t really gotten the hang of how to make nice round flat dots!

Well I hope you liked my card, I’m going to start making a series of Happy New Year cards now although I’m very very late but better late than never right? And the people receiving it will now have more time to read it too!

Thanks for dropping by and I always enjoy your comments!
