Creative with Stamps – Mid month CAS reminder post

Hi all, Its the 15th of the month, so time for me to remind you about our challenge over at Creative with Stamps where the theme is CAS + sentiment. We’re also celebrating our 2 years anniversary since Monika and Lilian started up this challenge blog, so today’s card is especially for them. Well done ladies and I’m so happy and honoured to be on your challenge team!

First of all I have to apologise that this card is neither clean or simple for our CAS theme. I was so concentrated on making a congratulations card that I forgot about the challenge theme! And to make up for it I will add a photo tutorial on how I made the shaker bit!

I first started with painting my wine glasses so I printed the digi stamp, from Pattie’s Creations who is our wonderfully generous sponsor this month, on Canson 300gm watercolour paper. I taped it down with painter’s masking tape so it wouldn’t warp while drying.  I then added clean water around the glasses with a size 6 Raphael brush and dropped in some Opera Pink and Permanent Mauve paint from Winsor and Newton professional watercolour series. I then added a mix of these two paints in the wine glasses and splattered a mix of Opera Rose and Scarlet lake once the panel was dry. The sentiment comes from Winnie and Walter’s Sketchy Thoughts stamp set.

To make the shaker bit around my main panel, I first die cut the stitched border with Stamplorations Crazy double running stitch rectangle die using the some watercolour scrap paper as I needed the colour of the paper to match my main panel. I also cut a piece of transparent plastic from cheap plastic folders with the same die. for. I then cut a piece of rectangle card stock that would go behind my painted panel. The card base was also cut and scored. Now that I had all the pieces I needed, it was time to assemble my card.

I first placed the transparent plastic rectangle under my border. To do this, turn the front of your card around and have it face downwards on the table, then adhere the plastic sheet on it.

As I needed the front of my card to be raised to add my sequins, I added foam tape behind the border, directly on the plastic sheet. I then added the rectangle piece that would go behind my painted panel on foam tape too, in the middle of the plastic sheet.

 

 

This is still the view of the back side with the sequins added and the top of the foam tape removed, ready to be adhered to my card base. I also added adhesive onto the small rectangle piece in the middle.

To add the card base, to prevent the sequins from falling out, I had to place it on top of the underside of the card. Meaning I placed it on top of the area you see in this photo.

 

 

This is the front part of the card with my card base attached. The white area behind the sequins is part of the card base. You can also see the foam tape I used on the back side of the small rectangle panel I cut from scrap paper, through the transparent plastic.

Now all is needed is to add my painted panel on top of the area where you can see the foam tape.

Well I hope you like my card and that the photo tutorial wasn’t too confusing! A video would have been easier to understand but I still need to get my video set up done! If you need more explanations, I will be happy to answer any questions if you leave it in the comment section of this post.
