So many things inspire me to make a card or paint. Nature, other people’s creations…and even once, a wall in a toilet in a mall! Rarely though am I so moved by an image I’ve seen that I immediately sit down and create something. Well today’s card was that exception and here is the image that moved me.
I love the tendrils of greenery hanging down from the bough of the tree, the stillness of the lake and even the lady in that ridiculous dress (did the poor thing have to wear that to a wedding I wonder…). There is something so peaceful about this beautiful image proposed by the challenge blog at Inkspirational and the simple pleasure of just sitting on a swing, and that is what I tried to capture in my card.
I wanted to create a sunset scene so this beautiful stamp from Technique Tuesday could stand out as a silhouette and I decided to be brave and use my distress inks to do it. I needn’t have worried at all cause it was SO EASY to create this scene. All I did was first streak Picked Raspberry onto 300gm watercolour paper, almost covering it completely. I then did the same with Mermaid Lagoon, again with Picked Rapsberry and finishing with Altenew’s Desert Night at the top. The bottom sunset was made with Spiced Marmalade and Mustard Seed. Make sure you don’t use your ink blender in circles but use the side of it to create lines.
I then spritz water on the whole panel and let the water flow onto one side of the card. When it was completely dry, I stamped the image with Versafine Onyx Black a few times, with my Misti. I extended the flowers on the left with my black Spectrum Noir Illustrator alcohol marker. I loved the background so much that I decided not to add a sentiment to obscure the view but will add one inside that says, “Missing our times together”, even though I never played in the fields when I was growing up in urban Singapore, but I think my friend will know what I mean! Now if only I can recreate this with real watercolour paints on a larger canvas…
Well thanks for stopping by and I hope you liked my card, let me know what you think. Have a great day!
