Hi all! How are you all this wonderful Monday morning? I love the start of a new week as it feels like a new beginning each time and I have a whole week to get to do things I love or a new chance to do what I couldn’t do the week before. This week, I’ll be concentrating on finishing my Christmas cards and making and sending Christmas presents. Hopefully they’ll get to all my family friends around the world in time!
Today’s shaker card & tag was made for a guest feature over at Paru’s cardmaking challenge blog as I was lucky enough to be chosen as one of the winners in her November “Thanks” challenge. I made it a coffee themed card so I could join in the 2018 Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers blog hop too!
To make my card, I started with the watercolour embossed background using distress inks to sponge up the flat side of the snowflake embossing folder by Darice and lightly spritzing water over it. I then put my card between the embossing folder and ran it through my Big Shot machine. What you get is a beautifully blended background with white raised embossed parts, in this case, my snowflakes. While it was drying, I stamped my coffee cup from Pink and Main’s “Christmas Mugs” stamp set in black Versafine ink and coloured it with my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers.
I then started on the shaker part of my card. I first cut it with My Favorite things Stitched Scallop Rectangle Frame die & adhered the coloured part of my card onto my white card base. I added foam tape all around the border of my card and added snowflakes in the middle, so that when I remove the adhesive, it won’t get stuck on it.
I decided to use a white frame so I cut another rectangle using the same MFT die. I adhered my coloured coffee image on a white heart diecut and a stitched sentiment strip I created, using the sentiment from the same Pink and main stamp set and a die from My Favorite Things blueprint 20 set, onto my clear acetate panel. This acetate panel was adhered under the white scallop frame and stuck on the foam tape, to finish. The sparkle of the fake snow really adds an extra festive feeling to this card!
For my tag, I just embossed a piece of white card stock with the same Darice embossing folder and cut out a tag using Casual Friday Stamps Funky Square tag die. I also added a clear acetate on top of this tag so that I could stamp my sentiment with Stazon Jet black ink on it, and add the candy cane stamp I coloured with my Spectrum Noir markers, and then fussy cut. Both come from the same Pink and Main stamp set. They were adhered on with Scrap Perfect’s “Best Glue Ever”, which dries clear. Afew drops of Nuco crystal drops finished my tag.
Its the first tag I’ve made this year and I don’t really make that many either, but this was so much fun I know I’ll be making more to accompany my gifts this year! Well thanks for bearing with me through this tutorial but I hope it has been useful to you.
Have a great creative week!
Hugs,

Beautifully done. I noticed your card in the Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers bloghop next to mine and wanted to check out your technique for the embossed background to see how you did it…mine was similar with the same snowflake background. Would love to see your card on our Double Trouble Challenge because it fits our new challenge theme and we have blog candy and random draws available too.
