Happy Little Stampers – Happy Watercolour challenge

May 2019 WC.pngHi all. Its the first of the month and I’m back to let you know that we have a new watercolour challenge over at Happy Little Stampers and this month’s optional theme is “Happy”! So show us your watercolour projects and if you want to, give it a happy theme either with bright happy colours or happy birthday, anniversary or just happy you’re around!art scrapI made a very quick card using one of my (many) watercolour failures attempts, like the one above.  I keep all my failed paintings, either to use the other side or as scraps for my cardmaking, that way I feel like I didn’t waste the paper!  I used Hero Arts Flower Garden fancy die, which is a large whole card die, and placed it in an area that would have all the colours so my diecut wouldn’t turn out too monotone. But honestly, this die is so beautiful, its hard to go wrong no matter what paper/design/colour you use.
Flower garden fancy die podgeI diecut a little circle in the middle of my flower diecut, so that I could stamp my sentiment from The Project Bin, which fit perfectly in the centre. I added the cake, also from the “Born Yesterday” stamp set from The Project Bin and coloured it with my Zigs. As my flower diecut was so delicate to adhere onto my card and I didn’t feel like adding glue to all the little pieces,  I decided to brush the whole card with the German version of Mod Podge which is a transparent glue/sealer/finish which adhered the whole diecut to my card nicely, and gave it a nice shiny finish too. I avoided the middle as I was worried it would smudge my freshly watercoloured cake.
flower-garden-fancy-die-cu.jpgWell I hope you liked my card and that it will inspire you to join in our watercolour challenge over at Happy Little Stampers. I look forward to seeing your projects in the challenge gallery.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

  1. Great card! I love your delicate, watercolored die cut -it looks so unique! The sentiment you used is very funny… Makes me smile. 🙂 The recipient of this card will love this for sure! Thanks for joining us at Time Out!

  2. I’ve been trying to watercolour myself and have a big pile of failed pictures too. Never thought to die-cut them and the die you used is stunning. That circle stamp certainly fits perfectly in that die-cut and your cake looks so sweet. Its such a beautiful card, I’m always happy to see you at TIME OUT!

  3. This is a cheery birthday card with those bright colors, Gwendolyn!!! I hate wasting papers too :)! What a great use of the practice pieces! Thank you so much for joining us at Seize the Birthday!
